Hot Flash
Ever walk outside and the sun is just there. Heat at your face and on your back, stuck in an oven. That’s what happened to Antwi. To be fair he hadn't always been Antwi, ripped body, stone abs, and traditional garbs. There were memories floating in his head about and overworked intern at an office. The people there didn’t care about that young man’s well being, constantly sending him on coffee runs and the like.
So when the heat advisory came and people were asked to stay indoors as much as possible, that intern didn’t think it was fair to be sent on a lunch run. He didn't even have access to a company car. They expected him to do a forty minute walk, twenty minutes there and back. He had no choice, he needed the money. So he grumbled and cursed to himself under his breath. He had grabbed a water bottle before he left but the sun was brutal, sizzling him by the time he entered the establishment. His water was either gone or evaporated. The restaurant workers did their best to cool him off, while he waited for the food. He left one it was in his hands, though, the workers tried to get him to stay longer.
The moment he stepped fully outside away from the shade the sun blasted him with a blinding light. When Antwi opened his eyes, he was Antwi. Always had been. There was an ocean that separated him and their terrible work environment. Antwi never did learn what happened to the company’s food, if it fell on the ground there, or vanished into a void. He didn’t feel bad about it at all…maybe for the workers who took the time to make the food but they had already been paid. As for the Company? They could go screw themselves. Besides if they kept their current practices up, they might just run out of employees.
Not that it was Antwi’s concern anymore. All he had to do was worry about looking good in the sun.
