Policy Update: Unaccompanied Passengers

“Oh, it’s been too long of a summer.” Linda said, holding her heart.

“I know. Can’t believe your sister volunteered to pay for his flight back.” Charles chucked. He always believed his wife’s sister was a cheap ass. But allowing their son to stay in California longer, then buying the plan ticket herself was a nice move.

“Don’t get too excited,” Linda rolled her eyes, “It’s not like Turbo Airlines has a first class. They’re inexpensive but only if you read and follow the fine print. They will try to charge you out the wazoo if they can.

Passengers from flight A264 began to appear. The parents stood proudly waiting for their son to show up. There were a few couples, older folks, and families. Then came this tall muscular fellow strolling out. He didn’t look so happy. His ears were plugged up with ear pods as his large hands were gripped around a phone 3 times smaller than his hands. The outfit he had on was ridiculous, a crop top and booty shorts. Wouldn’t have been a problem if the man didn’t have so much muscled ass hanging out.
“You think he’s a bodybuilder?” Linda asked as their eyes followed the man to the luggage pickup and stood with the rest of the crowd. The other people’s heads barely reached the man’s shoulders if that.
Charles let out a low whistle, “Whew-wee, that’s a big dude. It’s like a giant birthed him out.” leaning in his wife’s ear he said, “Bet he came out fully grown, or maybe his huge dad shot him right out of the old baby maker.”

Linda gave a sigh but had a smile on her face, “You’re so stupid sometimes, Chuck.” She had to admit though; it was a good laugh. The two watched as the baggage claim started, and people began picking up their bags. The parents watched as people coming in from the flight died down, their son wasn’t anywhere. The giant guy in the crowd reached and lifted a tiny suitcase, off the track which morphed in mid-air into a bigger one. Setting it on the ground the large guy sucked his teeth, pushed up the handle and began rolling it. Questioning themselves, the two parents looked at each other. Had they both seen that? Were their eyes playing tricks, By the time they looked back the man was in a different outfit. A navy-blue suit, pink shirt and black dress shoes of all things. The giant had stopped to study it. Apparently, he had noticed it too. He ripped off the blazer, throwing it angrily on the ground and stomped on it. Pulling out his phone, which by the way now matched his huge pits perfectly, he dialed something. He continued walking right by Charles and Linda.

Both heard him say, “Mom, can you come get me now?”

“Did that just happen?” Charles asked. They looked around, the only other people there were passengers from the flight, but no one seemed to care.

“It did, but don’t worry about that?” After waiting an extra 10 minutes hoping he had gone to the bathroom, the parents went to security. Linda called her sister while Security led them up to the airlines and gates. There was a woman at the desk for Turbo Airlines.”

“My sister said he definitely got on. Texted her and everything.” Linda shared hanging up.

“Excuse me, we’re looking for our son Tristan McKnight, he is about this tall, 15. Should have been on this flight.” Charles asked, trying to remain calm.

“Ah yes, Tristan! You must be his parents. Congratulations to you too!”

“For what?”

The lady’s face dropped. “For saving a fortune, this flight was originally—” She watched as the parents’ faces were lost. She’d seen this before. “You two didn’t read the policy update, did you?”

“No, we didn’t even buy the ticket?” Linda said

“OH, that makes more sense. Since most of our flyers are regulars, they already knew this but On October 17th we implemented a new policy. You see, babies are already bad enough, but unaccompanied minors are even worse. People don’t want to deal with that. So, to take stress off the rest of our passengers. All unaccompanied minors are aged up.” She went to the computer, pulling up a list, for this flight it was Sam Higgins and Tristan McKnight.

“What? We didn’t ask for this.” Charles stated.

“No, but it is an understanding that when you buy the ticket you consent to all changes and Turbo cannot be held legally responsible.”

“I’m going to have a word with Margret.”

Charles gently put a hand on his wife’s wrist stopping her, “Hold on, Where’s our son?”

“He’s still on the flight.” The lady smiled and led them forward through the gate. They walked down the connecting winding tunnel to the plane. Stepping on, she walked up the aisle until stopping at row G.

The parent’s mouths dropped; sleeping peacefully was a man who resembled a mature version of their son.
