Growing Apart

Original A/NHappy Halloween guys! First I want to shout out Aardvarkia and thank him for letting me reference his Wishing Room series! Which you guys should all check out if you haven’t done yet. Seriously you’re missing out. That being said, I think I’ve kept you guys well fed during this October with stories. So I want you to know I’m going to be taking a break.  I’ve started a new job along with a few other things. Don’t worry too much it’s just with the longer stories. I still plan on putting out shorter stories with pictures. With that said please enjoy.

“Fuckin’ losers,” Adan Marley had his upper body hanging out of the passenger seat of his car giving the middle finger to Kamden and Dion, as he rode past. He wasn’t driving, one of his snobby friends was. The Upperclassmen at St. Gregory’s high school were such dicks. Maybe because so many of their families had money, they didn’t think their actions mattered. Halloween was just one big excuse to get wasted and party. That wasn’t true for Kamden and Dion. They loved Halloween. Then one day a year they could dress up and pretend to be anyone else.

They knew though this year would be their last. Already, 16 they were cutting it pretty close with the trick or treating. However, they hadn’t been invited to any parties either. Everyone at school knew that. Adan was right, they were losers. The two boys didn’t even fully understand why. It’s not like they were nerds, goths, or plain douches.

“Why don’t you two go make out,” Jed Withers shouted from the car, further up the street now.

And there it was. The simple truth. People in this part of town thought the two boys were a couple. Dion had certainly suspected it was what people thought, but no one was bold enough to say it until now. Sure, they’d reference Dion being black and Kamden being white and talk about them being an interracial power duo, or the fact that Dion was chunky, and Kamden was rail thin and short. The problem was Dion was gay, and he didn’t know how to navigate the space high school had created for him.

“Fuck you guys too!” Kamden picked up a rock and threw it. Didn’t even come close to touching the car. The power of frail arms. He turned to Dion, “Let’s go home.” They’d gotten enough candy for the night walking the streets would only make them seem more pathetic when other boys from their high school would appear going to parties.

“I’m sorry,” Dion sulked as they walked back to his house.

“For what? You can’t blame yourself for their actions.” Kamden marched ahead.

“Yeah but, you should just tell them that you’re not gay.”

“Oh definitely, cause I’m in such a dire need to be their friend.” Kamden shot back sarcastically. He threw his arms around Dion’s neck. Awkward positioning with their 5ft’4in and 5’10 differences in height. They walked back to Dion’s home. Switching into their pajamas when they got to Dion’s room. The only two boys in the county who could have a sleepover on a Sunday night with school in the morning. Their families didn’t care because the two boys lived in each other’s homes.

Kamden grabbed his sleeping bag while Dion sat on the floor with him. They both presented their bags of candy. It was time for their post Halloween debrief. Dion turned the lights off as the moonlight was enough to keep the room lit. The two smiled facing each other as they dug their hand into the candy. M&M’s, Crunch bars, Twizzlers, Nerds, and so much more, nothing was safe from their greedy jowls.

“Why do you want me to tell them I’m straight?”

“I mean there’s nothing wrong with the truth, is there?” Dion shrugged, not making eye contact.

“No, but…” His voice trailed off.  Kamden knew the reason Dion wanted the truth out. Then the bullies would leave Kamden alone. They stop looking at them both like freaks and only move to Dion. That was a reality Kamden could not accept. Before high school, before their stupid all-boys private academy Dion was a different kid. He was the brave one, the one that protected Kamden from the bullies. Kamden had watched the light in his best friends’ eyes go dimmer everyday they had to walk through those halls. Juniors trying to trip him, Seniors saying snide things about his weight. Always the upperclassmen, it was exhausting. They were tougher and stronger than both of them.

“Then you shouldn’t have a problem.” Dion knew his friend just as well. Kamden was sweet, loyal, and kind, but he wasn’t inherently brave. Kamden was terrified of every single upperclassman that terrorized them. He only pretended to get mad and upset so that Dion wouldn’t be afraid. Kamden had cultivated a persona that was defiant and hard edge, but that’s not who the boy was.

Kamden was at a loss for words but he had more to say, “Hey if you could have anything right now, what would you want?

Dion took a long pause, “Do you believe in magic?”

“What kinda question is that?”

“Well, you asked if I could have anything. My cousin’s school… They have this urban legend about this one cleaning closet where kids can go in there to make a wish.” Dion stared up at the ceiling. “I’d like to visit that place and make a wish one day.”

Kamden stifled a laugh, “You know I know all your cousins, was this freaking Josh?”

“He said his teacher Mr. Woodlong believes it. Well, technically he said his professor was kinda vague on that part.”

There was a groan from Kamden. “Mr. Woodlong? A name like that?  Obviously, Josh was just messing with you.”

Dion pouted, “Doesn’t matter. I believe in it. I believe in magic and I think wishes can come true. They have to.”

“The difference between his school and ours? It’s a public school. They can have urban legends and believe in magic. At our school we know the only thing that makes things change are people with money.” Kamden shrugged ,” Why do you want a wish so badly?”

Dion crossed his legs smiling, “If I could have a wish. I’d wish you were my boyfriend.” His words were honest and sincere. Something that Kamden had known for a long time. He leaned forward on his hands and kissed Dion.

Pulling away, “Sorry. Nothing.” Kamden’s eyes fell to the floor, “Guess I’m really not wired that way. If I could make myself gay for you. You know I would, right? I love you. Just not like that. Looks like wishes don’t come true.” The last part came out harsher than he meant.

“That’s fine. That wasn’t why I told you, my wish.” Dion tried to hide his embarrassed face from the kiss, “What would you wish for?”

“I’d like the older kids to stop picking on us. Maybe if I was as big as them, or bigger I could put them in their place. Make them see the error of their ways.” Kamden did a fake karate chop. Both boys laughed. As their laughter died down, Kamden looked around the room, “Hell, maybe that closet isn’t such a bad idea.”

Dion nodded his head, grabbing Kamden’s hand gently. “Wishes can come true. I’ll prove it.”

The two talked more into the night Kamden on the floor and Dion in his bed. Eventually Kamden fell asleep. Time for Dion to get to work, He knelt in front of his bed. He wasn’t sure if there was an official way to make a wish, so he defaulted to prayer mode. In truth, Dion had been thinking about that wishing room ever since Josh told him. Not about the specific closet, but the wishes. If wishes were real, if they could come true, then miracles and magic could happen. It could mean nothing, or it could mean everything.

Dion looked back over his sleeping friend. There was one person in the world who he believed deserved to have their wish come true more than anyone else. He’d do whatever it took to make that wish come true. Even if he had to stay up all night asking for it. If magic existed even fleetingly or in brief moments, it had to exist in more places than one closet. The chance there was no magic, that Josh had lied to him, was real. That miracles couldn’t happen. But Dion never felt that way. He knew his imagination could run wild at times. When they were little Dion was the one that always led them on an adventure. Halloween only helped to foster it each and every year. And Dion never stopped believing in possibilities, he simply stopped sharing that part of himself with the rest of the world. High school wasn’t exactly a place that encouraged it especially not for a young gay kid. It ended up being his biggest regret because along the way Kamden also stopped believing.

His best friend saw how the older kids treated Dion and no longer cared for his own imagination. Everything had become too real and harsh. Dion had the feeling the only reason Kamden came on this last Halloween excursion was because it was the last and to humor Dion. Kamden had not only given up his childlike wonder, but he’d also given up on imagining what a better life could look like. That’s why Dion had asked for Kamden’s wish. In a moment between the two of them Dion wanted his friend to admit there’s something he wanted; a wish that he’d fight for.  If Kamden could do that then he was already halfway to getting it. After all, the first step to obtaining a new beginning was believing that one was even possible.

“Please, please grant his wish.” Dion prayed, pleaded, and begged through the night repeating his mantra.

The next morning Dion woke to Kamden shaking him. He had never gotten back in his bed falling asleep on the side of the bed with drool coming out his mouth.

“Dude, wake up. Did you sleep like that the whole night?” Kamden had a towel wrapped around his waist. His normally pale and thin body had a healthy layer of muscled added on to it. Or maybe it was the sleep in Dion’s eyes? He rubbed them as Kamden ushered him out. Kamden was going to get dressed while Dion took his shower.

By the time Dion got out of the shower, he was rushing. The clock had shown he had overslept. That never happened. Kamden always woke them up on time.  Now he had to hurry and put on the stupid uniform on. Dress shirt? Guess today he’d wear a blue one, a pair of khaki pants, a belt, his dockers oh and his tie. Turned around he couldn’t forget that. Every single grade in his high school had a specific color tie they had to wear. Freshman had white, sophomores had black, juniors had silver and seniors had gold.

Throwing his tie on he ran downstairs, “I can’t believe you got me up so late.” He said to Kamden sitting at the table. His friend had a spoon full of cheerios in his mouth. His outfit was a pink dress shirt, black pants, blazer and shoes to match his tie. The hem of his pants weren’t Covering his ankles when he sat down though. Strange, because Kamden’s mom Mrs. Latton always stressed out about clothes on her son.

“I know and I’m sorry, but I was sleeping hard last night.” Kamden stretched his arms. The cuffs of his sleeves weren’t reaching his wrists, “But don’t worry we’ll have time to walk to school.” Kamden was much more relaxed than he’d even been about getting to school, but he ended up right. Albeit Dion had a quick breakfast, they got to school on time.

“Make way for the whale,” Adan Marley made his group of friend’s part, as Dion made his way down the hall.

“Back off!” Kamden stepped up to him, grabbing at his gold tie. Everyone was stunned. Kamden had built up a reputation for having quite the mouth with bullies, but he’d never put his hands on one. Especially not a Senior of all things, and Adan, the captain of the wrestling team. The boy that was a whopping 6’ 2. He was asking for a death wish.

Adan smirked, “Oh Kamen’s got balls now,” He easily pushed the shorter sophomore away. “Let’s go guys.” He led his posse onward down the halls.

“Couldn’t even get your name right, jerk.” Dion went to make sure Kamden was fine.

“Forget about him.” The two boys went to their locker to get ready for homeroom. Dion tossed his cell phone in his locker, while Kamden hid his away in his bookbag. The two boys parted for homeroom promising to meet back together. Dion watched his friend walk away before leaving himself. He was staring up at the ceiling when he tripped and suddenly the floor collided with his face.

“Whoops, sorry about that, guess your boyfriend wasn’t here to catch you.”  Jed fucking Withers was standing over him gloating. His silver tie hung down as he was leaned over, hands stuffed into his pocket. Dion felt the urge to grab that tie the same way Kamden had. Only this time Jed’s position and the weight of his backpack would make him fall over, But Dion didn’t do that. It wasn’t in his nature. Also, though Jed was no wrestler he was on the soccer team and a conflict with any school athlete was never worth it.

Dion picked himself up and continued on. But Jed wouldn’t let him go walking beside him, “I always had my suspicions about you two. Everyone has, but when I saw you both last night. It was so fucking obvious you’re both—

A teacher exited a classroom passing the boys by.

“Fairies.”

Dion grit his teeth. Clearly that had not been what Jed wanted to say. Thankfully he didn’t have to put up with anymore as walked into his homeroom classroom and Jed slipped away. From there, the school day was boring until Dion finally had a free period to stop by his locker. He took a look at his phone. There were several messages. All from Kamden.

‘Hey dude people are acting weird today.’

‘I think I need to get my ears checked.’

‘Srsly something is wrong with people’

‘or something’s wrong with me.’

A quick text back, Dion asked Kamden to meet him, by their lockers, Kamden came marching down the hallway 2 mins later grabbing Dion’s arm and dragging him outside. They walked a bit from the main building. Then Kamden finally turned around.

“What’s my name?”

“Uh, Kamden?”

“Yes, yes!” Kamden hugged his friend. He separated, keeping his hands on Dion’s shoulders.

“You won’t believe this, but all-day people have been getting my name wrong. I thought my hearing was going. They’ve been calling me Kamen.”

“O-kay?”

“And then Mrs. Roberts called me ‘Mr. Lattonell’, not Latton, like who even is that?”

“Uh, maybe you’re hearing things?”

“Ah-ha!” Kamden pointed a finger, “That’s what you’d think but look at this.” Kamden dug into his pocket and pulled out his wallet. He took out his student ID card, shoving it into Kamden’s hands.

At the top of the student ID in black bold letters was the name: Kamen Lattonell. Right, under was his smiling picture, brown hair, green eyes and all. Dion grabbed the ID scratching at it to see if the name would flake off. He handed the card back.

“That is weird,” Dion’s eyebrows were scrunched up, trying to decipher. Kamen’s stomach released a growl. Dion reached over and patted it. “Sounds like my guy is hungry we can figure this out after we get some food in us.”

They didn’t figure it out though. All throughout lunch, other boys would tap Kamen on the shoulder, calling him by that name. Dion was amazed at all the food Kamen was packing away.  Soon it was time for them to go to their next class. Luckily it was gym class, and they had it together. They’d probably be in pairs as the coach was getting them to do at home exercises.

“Mr. Lattonell you’re with Mr. Simmons.” The coach said. Now Dion had experienced weirdness firsthand. His last name had been called, yet no one made a reaction to the coach’s bastardization of Kamen’s name. No way, this was high school. There would at least be a snicker.  Dion and Kamen walked off to the side so They could get in the position for sit-ups.

Kamen laid his back on the ground, deciding to go first. Dion was going to have to hold his feet. Though they’d have to wait for whenever the coach was done pairing people off. Dion rested his head on Kamen’s bent knees.

“What was that?” He mouthed to Kamen.

“I know freaky right?” Kamen was moving Dion’s head by moving his knees side to side. Then as a prank he opened his legs and Dion’s head dropped right onto his stomach. Kamen let out an “Oof,” but beyond the little impact it went as expected. He gave a grin down to his friend as Dion stuck his tongue out.

“Hnnngh!” Kamen closed his eyes as his body began to stretch. Dion, laying on Kamen’s stomach, watched as his gym shirt left more of Kamen’s stomach exposed. Along his neck, Dion could feel the Kamen’s thighs changing as well.  Dion backed up to get a full picture.

“I think you just grew.” Dion smiled. It clicked into place.

“Begin!” The coach’s voice yelled.

The two boys resumed their position as Kamen started his sit-up.  “Why the hell is this happening to me?”

“I think this is because of my wish.” Dion stated.

“No talking.” The coach yelled. That ended the conversation, but Kamen shot Dion a confused look.

Dion got a good view as Kamen came up and down. His body was still changing. He’d come up and by the time his back was on the floor there’d be more of him. Muscles that would normally take months to cultivate were growing on Kamen. It started with his pecs popping into place, pressing against his gym shirt. Kamen had his arms crossed but he squeezed his pecs once he noticed their existence. His arms trembled before they began to inflate with power, his size-small shirt was no match for his arms continuing to swell. The sleeves started to spit around the biceps, but it was Kamen’s new shoulders popping into place that ripped the shirt at the seams. Kamen’s lunch time food baby had disappeared, and the kid was sweating. Abs were forming as if perfectly placed cobblestones all perfectly matched.

 Whimper came from Kamen’s mouth

“Damnit, why didn’t anybody remind me about stretches?” The coach yelled, having spotted Kamen having a hard time. “Everybody stop. Partners, let’s help each other stretch. He clapped his hands.

Collapsing back, Kamen’s thighs touched each other before he expected them to. He lifted his head; his lower body had gone through its own transformation. Thick muscled legs and calves that would have him staggering about. Dion turned Kamden’s legs to his side to help stretch out his hamstrings. There was the sound of gym shorts being stretched as Dion witnessed the birth of Kamen’s ass. It was a cute, muscled bubblegum booty. Not a true bubble butt yet, didn’t quite have the POP. But there was promise. Dion, so enthralled by the change reached a hand up to cup the ass. Kamen bit his lower lip as his ass swelled further, and his shorts began to sink in between his glutes.

They were still in gym class though and Dion pulled his hand back, but none of the other students had taken an interest in them. Nothing new there. He stopped stretching Kamen’s legs, placing them back. There was a very prominent bulge on Kame. In fact, if Dion tilted his head just right, he could see the tip of a penis sticking out of Kamen’s black boxer briefs and his shorts. Carefully he tried to tuck the cock back in discreetly. But then the sucker had the audacity to start growing in thickness and length. First, Dion couldn’t shove it back in the boxers then he was pulling on the gym shorts to cover it up. Finally, Kamen had to reach down himself and adjust his cock. He mouthed ‘thank you’ to Dion. Pulling the growing monster through the small leg whole of his pants, caused the boy to grunt until he was properly adjusted. His cock was too damn big to be held by his waistband. A portion of his cock rested on his abs, while most of the pouch was preoccupied holding his balls.

One thing was certain; Kamen would never be able to wear a small size again.  Dion moved Kamen’s cock through the fabric of his gym shorts and positioned it diagonally. Made an awkward tent, but better than nothing. Moving the cock revealed a trail of hair nestled between Kamen’s abs, leading up from Kamen’s crotch to his navel.

“Switch!” The coach yelled

Soon Dion was on the floor, and Kamen was over top of him. Dion tried not to stare, but as he stretched and did his exercises, Kamen’s body still pumped with muscle. When the two moved on to jumping jacks, Dion pointed out Kamen and he were now the same height.

“Woah, this is weird, not sure if I like it.” Kamen said doing a fake jumping jack.

The coach yelled, “Kamen do your jumps properly.”  He didn’t have to turn his head.

Kamen groaned and did real jumping jacks as his cock started to bob in his shorts. Dion’s eyes quickly flew down to sight.

“Please, don’t stare, you’re making it bigger.” Kamen saw Dion try to look away but stealing glimpses.

Somehow Kamen managed to escape gym class, perfectly intact. As they were getting dressed in the locker room He tapped Dion on the shoulder.  The two were still in their underwear, “Hey so what’s this wish thing all about.

“You believe,” Dion’s eyes lit up.

“Hard not to.” Kamen sighed. He leaned against the lockers next to Dion’s open one, “Back at the gym. My cock was liking the attention, but I wasn’t feeling it as much. Why’s that?”

“What do you mean?”

“Didn’t you wish for me to be your gay hot boyfriend?”

Dion’s mouth dropped, “I would never do that.”

“Hey, I’m not saying I’m angry. I’m pointing out I don’t think your wish is working. There’s no gay feeling coming out of me.” Kamen stated.

There was a laugh from Dion as he buttoned his dress shirt back. “Kamen, I love you. I’d never do something so self-serving. What would you get out of being my boyfriend? My wish was that your wish come true.”

Kamen smirked with a small chuckle. Then his smile faltered, “Wait, are you serious? Why? Why would you do that?!” His voice was rising. “You’re the one that believes in magic. You deserve this wish. Quick make another!”

“Won’t work.” Dion said, shutting the conversation down. “Don’t ask me how I know. I can just tell.”

Kamen slammed his hand on the locker, “Here’s a question thrown back at you. What do you get out of my wish coming true?”

There was a small smile from Dion, “I get you being happy.”

The anger in Kamen deflated. How could he ever hate his best friend? This wish. His wish was going to make him hot. And Dion had sacrificed probably all the magic he’d ever get in his life on Kamen. All Kamen could ask was if he was worth it. He looked down at Dion sitting on the bench, finishing up his shirt. Kamen nodded to himself. He’d have to make it worth it. Well, if his wish came true that should have been a given. Dion would be okay.

They didn’t see each other after that, until school was over. Dion stood waiting at the front entrance for half an hour until Kamen showed up. He looked the same since gym class albeit exhausted.

“You’re never going to believe this; Coach just spent the last half-hour trying to get me to join a sports team.”

“Yeah, guess he didn’t hear your hand eye coordination was terrible.” Dion said, before Kamen punched his arm. “Which one did he want you to join?” he asked curiously.

“Don’t know, he was kind of going through all of them and said they might look good on my college applications.”

As the two got closer to Dion’s house, Kamen put his head back, sighing. “I totally forgot. I promised to help my mom with something, but I can’t come over today.” Then he looked down at his body, “What is she going to say about this?”

“No one in school noticed. I doubt she will too. Must be the power of the wish!” Dion poked at his friend’s body.

Kamen rolled his eyes, “I don’t think we should just assume that. Guess I better get going.” Kamen continued walking down the block as Dion turned on the walkway leading up to his house. “And don’t you dare try to eat the rest of my candy!”

Late at night Dion got a text back from Kamen.

‘You were right, mom didn’t notice anything. Neither did dad.’

Dion put his phone off to the side and slipped off into slumber land. When he woke up the next day someone named Camen was calling him. Dion, thinking maybe his eyes were playing tricks on him, answered anyway.

“Hello?”

“Dude, thank god! Listen, you got to get to school now! I grew up again and my name starts with a ‘C’ now.”

“What are you doing at school already? Aren’t we going to walk together?”

“Dion, just get here I’ll explain it all. Meet me in the locker room.” With that Camen hung up. Dion groaned at having his precious sleep disturbed. His grumbling went on as he got out of bed, brushed his teeth, put on his uniform, grabbed his black tie and headed out the house.

He got to the school’s locker room and called out Camen’s name. A hand stuck out from the far back row ushering Dion. He trotted back there, before he turned and dropped his book bag. Camen was now taller than Dion. And his jawline was so sharp it could cut a person. It seemed the muscles that flew into his body also helped fill in his face. But what really grabbed Dion’s attention was the silver tie hanging around Camen’s neck.

“What’s this?” He pulled at the tie undoing it. “You’re going to get in trouble for wearing the wrong class tie.”

“Yeah, I know. But this was the only color tie in my closet. I only have three and all of them were silver.” He rubbed the back of his head. “Also, I think I am a junior now.” He reached down, pulled out his schedule, and handed it to Dion.  At the top read Camen Luttonell. The first class listed for today was gym. Dion knew Camen’s schedule in and out. He didn’t have gym early in the morning.

“I-I don’t know what to say?”

“That’s not all.” Camen started undressing, until he stood naked in his underwear. The moment he was de-clothed his body pumped bigger. It was his shoulders that spread apart first turning his delts into rocks. Next, his pecs ballooned with his nipples pointing outward. Then the growth traveled down, thickening him everywhere.

“That was quite the trick…” Dion said.

“I wasn’t trying to do that. I was just going to show you that my underwear were Calvin Klein while I changed for the gym.” Camen glanced down at his body. His cock was so prominent there wasn’t just a bulge it was an entire visible imprint of his shaft. The thighs housed within the white boxer-briefs had gotten so large they forced the fabric up making it look like tighty-whities. “Ngh, these are kinda digging into my skin.”  Camen reached his hands down to pull his underwear out. There was shifting under his skin as his bones cracked in his finger and palms, only to reform bigger.

Dion reached out and grabbed Camen’s left hand tracing the pattern of growth. In pulling the hand toward himself his finger brushed against Camen’s cock. The heat pouring off the appendage was ridiculous.

“Heh, who knew you’d be back here fucking?” That snide voice. Couldn’t be anyone else but Jed Withers. “You’re making the rest of us juniors look bad. Hanging out with this rainbow brigade.” He threw down his backpack, opening his gym locker and stuffing his uniform in it. When he slammed his locker shut Camen was right up on him. He lifted Jed off the ground and slammed him into the lockers.

“Hey, you don’t talk shit about him ever!” Camen barked. Jed tried to push back, but Camen’s body didn’t give. He tried again, but Camen didn’t move an inch. Camen turned to Dion, they both had a shocked expression. Jed was still cursing then trying to move.

Camen threw the bully. Jed’s back collided with the locker and they all clattered.

“This is why no one likes wrestlers.” Jed grabbed his book bag then ran out the locker room.

“Why did he call you a wrestler?” Dion asked.

“Uh yeah. That’s the reason I was here at school. My mom was screaming at me telling me I was late for my morning wrestling meeting. Apparently ‘junior’ me is on the wrestling team.”

Dion clapped his hands, “That’s it! What if the reason you’re so big is because your wish put you on the wrestling team?”

“Ehhh, sounds like a leap to me buddy. Joining the wrestling team wouldn’t make me grow taller.”

Mulling it over Dion shrugged, “It was just a theory.”

“A game theory.” The two said in unison laughing. They really used to love watching that YouTube channel. Then Camen’s face grew weary. He sat down on the bench. “Dion, I don’t know if this wish is going to work out. I have different classes now.” He reached for his schedule again.  He slapped the paper I don’t know shit about Algebra 2. I barely got through the first one.“

“It’s fine, we’ll figure it out. All you have to do is get through the day.” Dion rubbed a hand over Camen’s expanded back, calming him down. Camen put his gym uniform under his school clothes.

“No way am I undressing when everyone else is here.”

Dion thought about including that Cameron would have to undress again when he took the gym clothes off but decided against it. Camen was stressed enough as it was. The two went to homeroom then to classes. Dion waited at lunch for Camen to show up, but his friend never came. By the time he was leaving, Dion finally got it. If Camen’s schedule had changed that meant they didn’t have the same free periods anymore.

After school was even worse. Dion waited by the front of the school to walk home, but Camen was running late. He went looking all around but never saw him. He waited a full two hours when he spotted Adan Marley. He had on a dress shirt, no tie, dress pants and tennis shoes. Wrestling practice had just ended then. On reflex, Dion shrank back.

“Woah, I don’t want any trouble,” Adan said, moving past Dion.

Now that was weird. Adan never passed up an opportunity to insinuate Dion was fat. Then again with Camen’s sudden disappearance, that got Dion’s blood pumping. He marched up behind Adan, grabbing the senior’s arm, “Did you do something to Camen?”

“Me? Do something to Camen? He’s my best friend and he’d probably whoop my as if I tried. He’s a way better wrestler than I am.”

“Best friend? What kind of joke is this? And Camen isn’t on the wrestling team.” They had talked about it, but he was beyond sure that Camen would just quit. His best friend didn’t do sports.

Adan arched his eyebrows, “Are you okay, Dion? Carmen’s one of the best players in the state, Next year he’ll probably be captain.”

Before Dion could say anything there was a huge weight on his back. His head slipped into a valley of flesh with hard muscles on each side. Dion looked up, Camen was leaning on him hugging him from the back.

“Where have you been?”

“Wrestling, Remember? I’m a wrestler now.” He made a face like they shouldn’t say anything more in front of Adan. He pointed to the upperclassmen, “Adan here basically wants to be like me when he grows up.”

“You wish dumbass.” Adan lightly punched Camen in his shoulders. The two seemed to have some nice banter going before Adan took off.

Dion pondered to himself, “Adan kind of had a point there.” The two began walking. Camen was more dishelved than Adan had been. For starters his shirt wasn’t even buttoned, and his silver tie hung around his neck. While he carried his blazer in his left hand. “This is your wish, but I’m surprised you’re going along with the wrestling part of it.”

“You and me both. I went there to quit but when I saw the other guys something inside me told me to join them.”

“And you and Adan?”

“Oh man I gotta tell ya. Adan’s the best! He used to make fun of you because he was fat back in middle school.”

“Used to? He still does.” Though their last exchange had been fine. It’s not like one interaction changed their relationship.

“Nope, He won’t be doing that again. Not if he wants to be friends with this.” Camen flexed his right bicep. His right sleeve was not appreciative and started to rip around the bicep. “Damn it, mom’s gonna kill me for that one.” He put his arm down. “Anyway, I told him we couldn’t stay pals if he was always on my best friend’s case and not to take his childhood insecurities out on you.”

“But since when were you and him pals?”

“Dion, I’ve been on the same wrestling team as him for two years now.”

“Camen, that’s probably the wish talking.”  Dion said as they marched on to his house. Once there the duo sprinted up to Dion’s room. They tried to race when they were kids. Camen made Dion trip by grabbing his leg, but when he tried to squeeze body the muscle on him made it harder to get through.

“I win!” Dion busted in the door.

“This time.” Camen found that he didn’t even need to catch his breath. Even after an intense wrestling practice, he was good. He sat down as Dion retrieved their Halloween candy.

“To the victor goes the spoils,” Dion plucked a piece of candy from Camen’s bag and dangled it over his mouth.

“You butt,” Camen chuckled, grabbing the bag and the candy. “You’re not taking my last score of candy.”

“Oh, shoot that reminds me we didn’t take a photo!” Dion scrambled to the bottom of his bookshelf. There he pulled out a blue scrapbook. Inside was a collection of photos of him and his best friend since they were kids. It even had their names. He tapped at the blank spot for this year’s Halloween. Camen peered over him resting his strong jaw on Dion’s shoulders.

“Normally I would suggest taking it now, but I don’t think this body is going to fit back in my costume.” Camen leaned his head against Dion’s, “That’s so weird to say. My costume from a few days ago doesn’t even fit.”

“Let’s take one now then,” Dion pulled out his phone and so did Camen. First Dion snapped a photo then Camen followed suit. The two-friend continued to look through the book. When suddenly Camen snatched it, “Oh my god I forgot about the Christmas party when we were 12. I can’t believe your mom got this. Where has this photo been?”  He held the book open in the air.

The duo had gone through the scrapbook a few times before, and it was true, Dion had purposefully hid that embarrassing Christmas photo every time they did. He didn’t even like to think about it. He reached for the book but Camen’s longer arms easily held them out of his grasp. Dion decided there was only one way he had a chance; he hopped on Camen sending the boy back. Camen did indeed drop the book, but now the two boys were flush against each other. Camen was still laughing until he noticed Dion staring at him intensely. The other boy couldn’t help it, he was gay, and Camen was a teenage dreamboat.

Out of nowhere Dion felt a hand on the back of his head pulling him forward. The two boys kissed. Dion’s mind exploded, fireworks were going off. He let his tongue explore the inside of Camen’s mouth, while his hands grazed the body below him. That’s when the pressure from hand on his head stopped. Dion pulled away, noticing that Camen hadn’t been kissing him back.

Instead, the muscle teen threw his left arm over his face, hiding his eyes. “I’m sorry. I’m so sorry,” The guy was sobbing, his entire chest moved and Dion with it. “ I thought now. By now I’d be…

“Gay?” Dion felt his desire get stamped.

“But I don’t feel anything. That kiss wasn’t good or bad, it was just skin against skin.” Tears were starting to appear past his arm. “And I know it meant the world to you. I can feel how much it meant to you.”

Dion looked down, the boner in his pants was indeed pressed against Camen’s crotch. Dion’s boner twitched and touched against the slumbering fat log in Camen’s pants.

“It sucks because I love you. I love you so much, And I think you deserve the world. But I can’t give it to you.”

Dion climbed off of Camen, taking a breath, then leaned down beside his friend. He cozied up next to him, then removed Camen’s arm away from that handsome face. Tears did nothing to take away its beauty, only made it more striking.

“Hey, did you wish to be gay?” Dion asked.

“No.”

“Did you wish to be gay for me?”

Camen had no idea where this was going “No?”

“Then why are you beating yourself up over something you didn’t wish for.”

‘Because!” Camen sat up , “If you’re not happy, then my wish … I know what you want, that would make you happy. I don’t like that you haven’t gotten anything out of this wish.” Camen hit the ground, “More than that. It pisses me off!” Camen got up collecting his things and the candy. “I’m going home, I need to cool off. I’m sorry about kissing you. That wasn’t fair.”

Dion, arm propped on the floor, had his head resting in his hand, “Hey, I don’t remember complaining.” That earned him a  sweet little smile as Camen walked away and left. Once all alone Dion returned his scrapbook to the shelf. Putting it away he noticed the name on the book still read ‘Dion & Kamden’. It was his turn to smile as he put the book away. Perhaps his friend’s true name in the book was the universe’s miracle for him. Just a theory.

Over the next week, things got weird. Camen started driving them both to school. He hadn’t even gotten his learner’s permit, but now he was taking on the streets with one hand. Then once they got to school a few people would greet them. Actually, just Camen, but they’d acknowledge Dion was there. Strange going from being nobodies to everyone knowing their names. The next day even more people would greet them and so on. Until eventually Dion would laugh, taking off to reach his locker, while Camen got lost in a crowd of his male admirers.

Then during school with the differing schedules, it was hard for the best friends to even plan a good meet up. Their schedules were conflicting with one another. One always had class when the other had a free period. Things had changed after school for the boys as well. Dion stopped waiting till after 5 just to meet up with Camen and began solo walks home alone. So of course, it’d be on one of those days he’d run into Jed. An inevitable encounter, School had just ended and Jed was on his way to baseball practice.

“Hey, I was wondering where you had pranced off too, Fairy boy.”

Dion, who had been packing up, dropped his books. He balled his fist. He was going to fight back if need be. Though it shouldn’t have been there were a few other student stragglers in the hallway, watching Jed.

“You think because your best friend’s hot shit, you are too. Let me tell you something. “Jed stepped up to Dion pushing him against the locker with his body. “ You’re a nobody. And Camen’s just another junior like me. If I want to whoop your ass there is nothing either of you could do about it. Remember that.”  Jed laughed walking away. He gave the middle finger to Dion.

The next morning on the drive to school. Dion hopped in the car with a, “Hello,” as Camen didn’t respond and just took off. Camen didn’t talk at all, just kept his eyes on the road. When they got to school Camen got out slamming his car door.

“You forgot your—!” Dion reached in the back seat grabbing Camen’s book bag and exited the vehicle. He was rushing behind as his best friend was on a mission charging forward.

Jed Withers was laughing with members of the baseball team around his locker. Camen charged forward pushing them aside with his body. His arms and legs were stretching out as he moved through them. His shoulders ripped the seams of his blazer as his dress pants rose up past his ankles.  Camen punched Jed upside his face and the boy flew out of his shoes.  Dion finally reached his friend.

There was a gold tie around his neck now and face now had peach fuzz growing on it. His shirt as ruined, buttons were missing up at the top near his pes. The pounds of muscle sat out like tits, strong and proud. Dion was still taken by the fact that Camen had just aged up and entire year inside school.

“Don’t you ever threaten him again.” Camen’s voice was absolute. There would be no second warning. The punch to the face was mercy.

“Camen, let’s go!” Dion grabbed his friend’s hand. Their fingers interlocked as Camen sighed, turning away.

“Geez are you gay now too, Cameron?” Jed said it obnoxiously loud to grab the attention of other students.

Cameron smirked, “Yeah, what if I am?” He held up Dion’s hand. “This here is my boyfriend and if you have a problem with him, you have a problem with me!” The two left the scene.

And for once in his life Jed Withers was rendered speechless.

Once the duo got far from the action sitting outside. Dion decided to let his friend have it. “What the hell was that Cameron?” Cameron? Was that his name sounded off but also correct?

“Were you going to tell me that Jed was picking on you? I had to hear it from the rumor mill after I got off practice. Some of the wrestlers were still in the hallway, you know. They said Jed promised to kick your ass.”

“They were embellishing, but I didn’t want to bother you. Between your new classes and wrestling you’ve been busy.”

Cameron sighed, “I’m sorry I’ve been busy, it’s just. You know senior year is hard on me. I gotta apply to the right colleges.”

“What, you’re a junior?” Then again that tie being gold did look suspicious to Dion. Was it gold when he got in the car, or did it become gold? “Or maybe this is more of your wish.”

“You’re saying I got older. I thought my wish was done.”

“I guess not. What exactly did you wish for?”

“Well, um…” Cameron started breathing heavily and his pants were starting to rip in the front. He spread his legs open as his cock print became increasingly prominent. His hands enlarged when muscle got dumped into him. Cameron kicked his shoes off feet approaching size 16 territory. ‘“How big am I gonna get?”

“I think it depends on your wish. How big did you want to get?”

“I gotta go home.”  Cameron started to leave but Dion was right behind him.

“Not leaving you Cam, not when you’re like this.” The two went to Cameron’s house. He wanted to skip school but upon opening his closet he found bigger uniforms. Begrudgingly he put them on. Everything fit like a second skin. His ass was like a pumpkin; his dick was a snake. Cameron couldn’t even button the three top buttons, his chest was too wide.  He had to leave his gold tie hanging between his pecs.

When the two got back to school, it was like the morning hadn’t even happened. They were late for sure, but no teachers tried to stop them and none of the students were whispering either. The two separated.

Surprisingly, Dion ran into Cameron at lunch. They didn’t have the same free periods anymore. Then he had to remind himself, ‘Senior’ Cameron probably had a different schedule as well. Only problem was Cameron was eating with Adan and a bunch of other wrestlers. Cameron waved him over.

“Is it okay if I sit here?”

“Of course, Dion, you’re the team captain’s boyfriend.” Adan chuckled as if it was obvious. But Dion was shocked that the statement was widely believed as all the boys around the table nodded in agreement. Dion sat down, mouth open looking at Cameron who mouthed “go with it.”

“So, what’s this about Cameron being team captain, that’s you Adan.”

“As if, I can’t compete with this dude. He’s a beast on the mat.” Adan patted Cameron’s large delt

After lunch Dion tried to get some clarification, “Okay. you’re a senior now, captain of the wrestling team, and people think we’re dating.

“Yes, yes, and I’m sorry about the last part. As I am still straight but at least no one will bother you anymore.”

“Fair. But no one’s going to try to go out with the wrestling captain’s boyfriend either. So, my dating prospects are dead in the water until you graduate.”  He playfully poked Cameron on his side.

“Did I mess up again? Like with the kiss.” Cameron asked.

“Dude I’m just messing with you.” How had his friend missed that?

The two separated after lunch. Dion didn’t see Cameron for the rest of the day. He headed home with no sign of Jed either so that worked out great.

It was 8:00 at night when Cameron called him. “Can you come over? I need you.” His voice was a whisper, Dion had no idea what was going on but didn’t even ask why he packed a bag for the night, shouted to his mom he was leaving for cam’s house then left out. When he knocked on the door, Dion was surprised to see Cameron’s father answered since he worked graveyard shifts. The longer he stared he noticed something was off. The body was too wide and the face was way too young to be Cameron’s dad. “Cam?”  Dion walked in. He spun around. There were sports trophies all around, not just for wrestling. Even academic awards cluttered the living room mantle.

Dion walked up grabbing a picture of Cameron accepting an award. “This says it’s from last year, but you didn’t look like this last year.”

“Yeah, and it also shows I was a junior last year, if you see my tie. Apparently, this is how I’ve always looked except you are now younger and smaller. All the pictures in my house have changed to this hot version of me.”

Dion didn’t believe it at first, he went over to the photo of them Cameron’s mom kept on the side coffee table. “No doubt there was a young hot version of Cameron, with an even younger Dion.” If Cameron was a sophomore in this photo that meant Dion was in middle school.

“That’s not why I called you over here though. I wanted you to be here because I keep growing.”

“You look the same to me.”

“Maybe I’m paranoid, but I feel it inside. It’s either happening or about to happen and I don’t want to be alone.” Cameron cried. Dion took Cameron up to his bedroom. The entire layout was changed, weights on the floor, even more trophies and shoes and clothes laying about. Took another hour to learn the place properly. Then they were both lying on Cameron’s bed. They’d fallen asleep in the same bed before, nothing sexual and that old bed had been tiny. Cameron’s new body would have filled it up leaving Dion no option but to sleep on him. Thankfully, Cameron had a massive bed now that both boys could comfortably lie on.

“Why didn’t you tell me that the wish had done this? This is more than you just growing bigger. Cameron, this is more like you’re growing up.” The two boys lay facing each other. Dion lifted a finger and traced Cameron’s jaw line. The bristles of his peach fuzz were scraggly. Cameron had his eyes closed as his best friend studied his new body. By the time they fell asleep They were spooning each other. Cameron didn’t want to fall asleep alone and was too big for Dion’s arms.

When Dion first woke up, he dreamt he was in an empty room, laying on the floor. He closed his eyes and turned over. The next time he woke up, he was back in his room. He didn’t remember coming back home last night. Groggily he got up and started to get ready for school. Must have been a dream, he concluded. He got dressed and waited for Cameron to come pick him up. 10 minutes passed their normal meetup, time passed. Dion got worried. His phone rang.

A person he had listed as Cameron Luttrell.

Not a last name he remembered but Cameron could only be. Dion answered eagerly.

“Hello?”

“Dion, buddy! Thank god, you won’t believe it when I woke up today, I was halfway across the country and in college.”

“College?! How big did you want to get?” Dion asked, surprised.

“See that’s the thing. You’re going to have to take this wish back. I think it’s working a little too well. I can’t even remember what town we live in. It’s like my head’s filling up with new shit.” Cameron stopped talking for a moment. “Shoot, I gotta get to class. Don’t know why I ever signed up for an 8:00 am. I’ll send you a picture, so you get how fucked I am.” Cameron hung up quickly.

A minute later, Dion received a picture of Cameron standing in a bathroom, stripped down to his underwear. Or perhaps that’s all the college freshman Cameron did. He didn’t look like a boy anymore though. He was a straight up young man. Well, more like a pre-man his face was immaculate. Pre-man wasn’t a word but that was the best to describe what happened. Had a full 5 o’clock shadow going on, and his natural brown hair had gotten much darker. A Greek statue come to life. Dion had a hot flash for a moment. He loved being gay sometimes.

If this was truly Cameron’s wish Dion wouldn’t argue against it. Though going to school without him was….”Oh shit!” Dion shouted, remembering he had to go to school. He ran out the door throwing his book bag on his back. Once he got there, he had a few minutes left before homeroom.

“Hey Dion, what’s up?” A random guy said as he passed by. Dion didn’t know who it was, but it looked like one of Cameron’s friends. Then again, the whole school was or had been Cameron’s friend. Dion was sure he was only a tag along, but as he moved through the hall more people called out to him saying ‘hey’.

When he got to his locker Adan was waiting by it. Dion was nervous, but he did have to get his books for class. The moment Adan spotted him he smiled.

“How’s my favorite sophomore doing?” Adan’s smile just made the interaction creepier. Then he gave Dion a bro hug. The dude was completely serious about what he said. But Dion was Never Adan’s friend. If anything, it was more like Dion inherited the friendship Cameron left behind.

“I prepared you a training regimen, like you asked.”

“What? I never—

“Talk to you about it later.” Adan took off.

School began and Dion went to homeroom. Everything was the same minus Cameron. Then again when Cameron was a junior, Dion hadn’t spotted him much anyway. But even back then knowing Cameron was in the school made Dion feel better. Now Cameron would never be in high school again.

When school was over Dion, easily spotted Jed in the Hallway. He was walking past and gave a curt nod continuing on. That was it. No yelling. No arguing. No threat No insult. Very anticlimactic, but Dion had enough drama in his life without Jed. Cameron’s punch to the face must have settled the score between the 3 boys permanently. Dion counted himself lucky that he hadn’t been put on the wrestling team, he rushed home and waited for Cameron to call him.

It didn’t come that night. Or the next. Or even after that. College classes must have been challenging. Then randomly at 12 am Dion got a call from Cameron’s number.

“Heys youss,”

“Cam! Cameron it that you?” Dion sat up pressing the phone to his ear.

“The one and only,” Though Dion understood Cameron’s words were extremely slurred.

“Are you drunk? Cameron what are you doing, you can’t get caught drinking.”

“Woah man, you’re kinda a party pooper. Don’t worry, I’m a senior and I do it all the time.”

Dion didn’t have words. Cameron was 21 now? He was a senior in college who partied. This was so far removed from Dion’s reality. He couldn’t picture his best friend doing that.

“But anyway, that’s not why I called. The truth is when I was getting buzzed your name kept popping into my head. Didn’t know why. Then your phone number came in, and I had to call you before I sobered up.”

“You can’t remember me? Cameron…just what did you wish for?” Dion felt his heart drop.

“Wish, what wish?” There was a voice calling for Cameron on his end. “Look, I gotta go. There’s a party I need to get back to.” Before Dion could respond the phone hung up. Dion tried to call the number back to no avail. He kept trying to reach Cameron whenever he had time. He’d call from even his parents’ phones. Then Cameron’s number disappeared from his phone. Days turned into weeks. Weeks were turning into months. Dion was lonely, but Adan was a persistent senior always trying to hang around Dion eventually Dion gave in, if only to satisfy Adan.

Then out of the blue a call came on Dion’s cell phone. He didn’t normally answer random numbers, but his phone didn’t say it was a scam.

“Hello,” Dion waited but got no response. He repeated himself. There was no answer. just when he was about to hang up a voice came in on the phone.

“Please don’t hang up,” The voice on the other line was deep, “took me ages to remember this number. I just want you to listen. I don’t know who you are, or where you’re from, but I know you.” The guy chuckled sadly for a moment, “ I had to call you to tell you I’m okay. That I’m going to be okay.”

“Cameron is that you?” Dion had tears in his eyes.

“Yeah, it’s me.” The version of Cameron on the phone was undoubtedly a man through and through. “Can you do me a favor? I want you to tell me your name. I won’t remember. I know I won’t, but I have to hear it.”

“It’s Dion.”

“Dion? That’s a great name.” Dion could sense the man was smiling even through the phone. Cameron’s voice was lighter and unburdened when he repeated Dion’s name. Suddenly Dion heard a baby crying in the background.

“Sorry, I have to go, that’s my son.” Cameron’s voice was stressed. He clearly didn’t want to hang up but needed to go. Even if he had stayed on Dion got the feeling the line would cut them off.

“Bye Cameron.”

“Bye Dion.” The man hung up, and Dion’s phone went to its home screen. Dion sat in his bedroom. He was sad but, if Cameron had wanted a family, then that must have meant his wish was granted. That was a good thing, and he was truly happy for him.

2 years later

Dion was walking through the halls of the school wondering what he’d wear to the Halloween party next week. If the last year had proven anything it was that all of his old costumes were obsolete. He was just too muscular to fit them correctly. A positive consequence to keeping up with Adan’s training regimen even after he graduated. The new body also provided assurance people wouldn’t be so quick to bully him anymore. Though Jed had graduated and never threatened Dion since that punch, it felt nice to be assured.

“I hate these bathrooms.” A fellow senior said walking out of one.

The world froze. Dion couldn’t believe it. His body wouldn’t move. Standing in front of him was Cameron. His best friend had dyed his hair light brown though. However, there was no doubt in Dion’s mind he was staring at the same ‘Senior’ Cameron he had met 2 years ago. His body moved even before his mind processed it. He wrapped the boy in a hug.

“Cam? Where were you? I missed you so much,” Dion held his friend tight.

“Woah, back off me dude.” The guy pushed him away. “I think you have me confused for someone else.  I transferred here today.” He started to walk away.

“Cameron, don’t leave.” Dion took after him.

“That’s not my name!” the guy shouted unraveling his tie as he walked through the front doors into the outside.  “This uniform stuff is annoying. How do you guys deal with it?”  He held out his hand. “My name. My actual name if you care to use it is Kole. With a ‘k’.”

Dion shook Kole’s hand, confused. Had Cameron’s wishes turned him back into a student? Two years later though, that was a hell of a waiting period.

A cream-colored SUV pulled up to the front of the school. The window rolled down, and Dion saw the hottest man he’d ever seen, in real life anyway.  Hair combed to perfection, perfect white teeth, well-groomed beard. This man was wearing a polo that wasn’t even buttoned because his chest was too large. His biceps were staring at the fibers of the short sleeves.

“Hey sonny- boy,” The man gave a warm smile to his son Kole, and Dion almost nutted on the spot.  The man’s eyesight went over to Dion. “You made a new friend on your first day already?”

“Mr. Luttrell.” He held out his hand reaching over the interior of the car. Dion’s breath stopped that last name he knew. He grabbed the father’s huge mitts.

“I’m D— Dion.”

The father happily shook his hand but slowed down as he processed what the boy had said. “Dion?” He said with a hint of recognition. A smile grew on his face. “I remember you.” He said quietly. “I remember everything.” The second response was louder. Dion couldn’t believe it. Cameron. His Cameron.

“You know him dad?” Kole asked.

“Long story, Dion hop in. We’ll give you a ride home.”

“Dad, we don’t even know him.”

“Nonsense, son, be kind to people.”

Kole was visibly upset his dad had them with a stranger, Dion tried to stay quiet in the back but Cameron, or Mr. Luttrell more appropriately kept striking up conversation. Finally, Kole must have decided he had enough when Dion gave one too many short one-word answers.

“Dad, he doesn’t do anything. I just met him, and I can tell he’s a loser.”

The car screeched to a halt. Dion didn’t believe in that word anymore. certainly, didn’t think of himself that way. Kole could believe whatever he wanted to. The same couldn’t be said about Kole’s father. The air in the car changed. Mr. Luttrell had originally made it a warm and friendly environment and now, as if, on cue there was a heaviness in the air. Dion felt it. He was smothered by it. Mr. Luttrell’s goofy fatherly figure became imposing.

He lifted a finger, “You will never talk about him that way. EVER.” He paused. “I never want to hear you say that about anyone, but especially not him. Do you understand me?” His voice was firm. It communicated this was not a debate. Kole nodded, his face was pale. He’d never seen his father, who he only thought of as silly, so upset.

“Good. I’m going to drop you off first Kole. I want you to think about what I said.” And Mr. Luttreell did just that. He took his son home which was way further out than Dion’s house then turned back. The ride to the Luttrell house had been quiet. Mr. Luttrell asked Dion to sit in the front.

“Wow, you’re scary.” Dion chuckled trying to lighten the mood.

“I didn’t like what he said about you. It hurts me, because he’s a part of me and it’s like that’s me saying it to you.” The pain in Mr. Luttrell’s voice was heartbreaking. His son had done more than simply upset him.

Dion nodded “Yeah, I think all parents feel their way about their kids, which genetically is true. He is half of you.”

“No, you butt.” Mr. Luttrell laughed. “I mean more so than other parents. The day I woke up with a kid I was so confused. But then I saw him, and it all seemed right. As if the universe took a part of my soul and turned it back into a kid.”

“Wow, so that was your wish Cam, to be a kid and an adult?”

The older man just gave his sly sexy smile. “Nah, that’s not it.”

“Why did you come back home? Did you remember?”

“Honestly? No. I got a job offer that was too good to turn down. Wasn’t ideal to move Kole during his senior year, but there was no choice.”

He pulled up to Dion’s house. “We have a lot to catch up on.” Then he turned to Dion. “I know Kole seems like a douche, but he really is a good kid. I want you to try getting along with him. I think you can help him.”  Mr. Luttrell—no, Cameron leaned over and gave Dion a massive bear hug.

Dion sighed. “I don’t want to let you go, but we should before someone sees us. Might look a bit weird to the neighbors.” Cameron laughed letting him go, “I need to go pick up my wife anyway.”  Then, Dion hopped out of the car watching his best friend, now father drive off with a wave. “Wow.” The car disappeared, turning the corner. So that was the result of Cameron’s wish. It clearly was hell of one.

But not all was said and done, half an hour later there was a knock at Dion’s door. His parents were out so he had to answer it himself. He came downstairs out of his uniform in regular clothes. When he opened the door, he found Kole there dressed in workout clothes. A black tank top showing off his arms and gray shorts with his amazing calves showing.  There was a gym bag slung across his shoulder. Mr. Luttrell pulled off in the background.

Kole huffed before speaking, “My dad was supposed to take me to the gym, instead he dropped me off here saying I had to make up with you.” He arched his eyebrow. “Are your parents family friends or something? My dad’s never been like this. I think he wants us to be friends.”

“Come in,” Dion welcomed the guy inside. “I’ve known your dad for a while. It’s hard to explain.” He said as Kole sat on the family couch. Dion decided to sit on the arm of the couch, “but there’s really nothing special about me. How about you? Your dad said you moved recently. Miss your friends?”

“Nope, didn’t have any.”

“Well, there’s no shame in that I didn’t have friends for a while either.”

Kole gave a dry laugh, “The reason I didn’t have friends wasn’t because I didn’t make any. I got outted at school.”

“And what the whole school just turned on you for that? That’s messed up.”

“Oh no, not for being gay. But someone lied and told the head cheerleader I was screwing her boyfriend. Then I was the one who ruined the golden relationship. Me and the guy barely even spoke to one another.”

“And that’s why your father moved?”

“No, I didn’t even tell my parents what had happened. I think my father knew something was up with me. He’s always been good with that.” Kole shook his head. “I don’t even know why I told you all that.” he crossed his arms, sat back on the couch and gave Dion a full once over. “Guess it just felt good to talk to you. Thanks for listening.”

“If you want to make more friends. There’s this Halloween party coming up. You should come.”

“With you?” Kole said accusatorily, a very ‘not likely’ kind of way.

“Doesn’t have to be with me. I just like Halloween and getting costumes. Since I don’t go trick-or-treating this is a nice alternative. Not exactly the same but an excuse to get dressed up. “

Kole let out a laugh, “You always did like that stuff.”

“Huh? What do you mean ‘always’?”

“Hmmm.”

“When you always say ‘, you implied that I’ve done it a lot. but this is the first day we ever met so…” The gears in Dion’s brain started turning, thinking back to the conversation he had with Mr. Luttrell. Dion ran up his steps, then raced back down with a blue book in hand. He threw it on Cole’s lap. “Look at this. Tell me what you think.”

Kole’s hands are traced across the two names on the front, Dion & Kamden. Upon opening the book, he realized it was a photo album. There were pictures of Dion, younger and chubbier in the beginning, along with another boy. Smiles were all around with these two. Kole examined the other guys in the photos, “This guy kinda looks like a short, twink version of me, don’t cha think?” Kole kept flipping, “The way you look at him in some of these. Must be your boyfriend. You look so in love.” Then he got to a section where the other person in the pictures disappeared. It was Dion solo going forward. Kole flipped back. What happened to the other guy? He landed on the last picture of the two boys together. Dion and Kamden side by side. Only in this photo the Kamden fellow didn’t look like a twink, he was a jock like Kole. It was more than that. Kamden looked EXACTLY like him minus the darker hair. Kole’s heartbeat was faster, then he was breathing heavily. The synapses in his mind were making connections, then everything fell into place. He looked up from the scrap book a single tear falling from his face.

“Oh my god, Dion?” Kole said the other boy’s name with all the reverence and awe it deserved.

“Kamden, is it really you?”

“Yeah,” His lips formed into a smile. “Though these days I go by Kole.”   Dion pounced on the boy hugging him for dear life.

“I missed you. I missed you so much.” He pressed his face against Kole’s, “I was happy your wish came true I was, but I never wanted to lose you. Please don’t leave again.” Dion had wanted to say this earlier at school and then with Mr. Luttrell it hadn’t seemed appropriate. In truth Dion had just been hiding back what he was truly feeling.

Kole rubbed his back, “Don’t worry I’m not going anywhere.” He kissed Dion’s cheek. “This was the last part of my wish. You kept asking, but it’s time I told you what it was now. It’s true I did want to be bigger, but also older. I didn’t want to admit that to myself. Though that wasn’t all, the last caveat of my wish was for you to be happy. But you couldn’t do that, in our high school, with those bullies. That’s why I got so upset when I kept changing, that part of my wish for you wasn’t coming true.”

“Are you saying, Kole’s your gift to me?”

“Yep, I’m all yours man. I did tell you I’m gay.”

Dion was going to say more but he could feel his hard-on pressing against Kole’s, since they were both 18 now, he had a good idea of what they could do. “Let’s go to my room” he grabbed Kole’s hand, dragging him up the steps.

“Kole and you talked it out?” Mr. Luttrell asked as Dion walked beside him. They were on a hike. Kole was there too but further up ahead. It was the Luttrell father-son hang out, but Mr. Luttrell had invited along. Kole, however, had left them in the dust refusing to stay with slowpokes. In truth Dion wasn’t that great at pacing himself and had fallen behind. Mr. Luttrell had recognized that and lagged behind with him, making it appear as if they were leisurely strolling. Kole however, loved hiking and being the hot-blooded male he was, couldn’t slow down his exploration even for his dad and best friend.

“Yeah,” Dion rubbed the back of his head. “Honestly, it’s all pretty overwhelming.” His mouth was dry as the Sahara,

Mr. Luttrell gave his warm laugh, got behind Dion and pulled the water bottle from his bag. He handed the bottle to Dion. “You were looking a bit thirsty there, “He smiled, getting back beside Dion.

“Are you a mind reader,” Dion eagerly accepted, taking a good swig.

“No, I’m just used to taking hikes with fresh meat.” He patted Dion on the back. “Also, I got snack bars in my bag in case you get hungry.”

“Thanks, but I’ll try to stick it out and wouldn’t want to disappoint Kole.”

Mr. Luttrell brushed his hand aside, “Don’t worry about him. You’ll get there.” Then he laughed, “Or maybe you won’t. Don’t have to like everything he does. But you do have to stay in the gym if you want to keep those muscles up.” He patted Dion on the shoulder. Muscle had taken root where it hadn’t existed two years prior.

“Okay, dad. Dion marched on stifling a chuckle.

“I’m serious, you can join me and Kole for workouts.” Mr. Luttrell shared.

“I know you’re serious, that’s what makes it funnier.  You’re such a doting dad type.”

Before Mr. Luttrell could respond. Kole came jogging back. “Come with me!” He grabbed Dion’s hand, signaling with his head he wanted to run forward.

Dion shook his head, “I can’t go anywhere fast with this bag.”

“Give it to dad. He won’t mind.”

Mr. Luttrell made a face like he did indeed mind, but Dion’s shoulder became lighter as his backpack was peeled off of him. Kole took Dion’s hand, interlocking their fingers and ran forward, pulling Dion away from his dad. Eventually the two reached the end of the trail, coming up to a beautiful lake scene: few clouds in the sky, ducks swimming along, and tranquility/ what more could they ask for?

“You wanted me to see this? This is amazing.” Dion was breathless staring out into the scene.

“No, I wanted to get you away from my Dad so we could make out for a good bit before he catches up.” Kole backed Dion against a tree. The two started kissing, throwing their arms around each other.

Dion and Kole stood side by side as Mr. Luttrell took a picture of them.  It was Halloween night and the two needed to get to the party. Dion was going as a bodybuilding vampire, and Kole was going as a himbo jock werewolf. However, Mr. Luttrell couldn’t stop taking pictures of the duo.

“Ugh dad, do you want a picture with Dion?” Kole threw his head back. Dion still had to wrap around his head how both father and son were or had been Kamden. Sure Mr. Luttrell said it felt like his soul was split. But in a way, wouldn’t that also qualify as being reincarnated as his own son? Dion seemed to be the only one interested in discussing that part. Although the two had once been the same there were stark differences between them, as father and son now. Though their love for Dion seemed eternal. Mr. Luttrell was already talking about wedding plans, stating there was no point in pretending like it wasn’t going to happen.

Everyone knew it was probably something Dion had always wished for. A step further than simply being a boyfriend. But it wasn’t a cause for concern. After all, men in the Luttrell family knew that wishes came true.
